Frequently Shared Information:
- Although our investigations are created and not real (for obvious reasons), they are rich in authentic material, detailed, and accurate.
- All cases are appropriate to the social and emotional development of the participants and there are no cases involving physical injury to a living creature.
- Although we spend time every day learning skills, we learn in ways that are engaging and developmentally appropriate for participants. We use games, build in movement, and engage in lots of hands-on learning.
- Our programs are planned to meet the needs of bright and gifted children, including those who may have additional learning needs. All learning opportunities are designed with differently-wired brains in mind.
- Some of the real-life skills needed by detectives and forensic scientists that are built into our week: chromatography analysis, fibre analysis, how to read dental impressions, how to use a footprint or shoe print to learn their height and shoe size, how to lift fingerprints from objects, understanding fingerprints and how to identify unique patterns, blood typing, procedures for collecting evidence (and what is evidence), using a microscope, observation, deductive reasoning, how to conduct scientific experiments safely - and how to enjoy your work!
